Clubs partner with New York State Empowerment Fund for 'Tickets for Charity' Fundraising Opportunity in conjunction with the Turning Stone Resort Championship
June 17th-- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse have officially partnered with the New York State Empowerment Fund through its Tickets for Charity to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse.  The program allows the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse to sell tickets to the Turning Stone Resort Championship (October 2nd-5th) and keep 100% of the face value of the ticket!  This opportunity is made possible by the commitment of the Oneidas whose commitment to the well being of the region is foregoing a major share of the ticket proceeds to benefit organizations like ours.  If you would like to purchase tickets, please download this form (CLICK HERE) and either email it back to us at ticketsforcharity@bgcsyracuse.org or fax it in at (315) 428-9807.  We will also accept orders over the phone, so please call (315) 579-1116 to order today! Boys & Girls Clubs Represented at the 2008 Onondaga County DAY LIGHT Awards
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse had one of its staff and youth recognized this year at the Onondaga County Aging and Youth Department's DAY LIGHT Awards Ceremony held at the New York State Fair's Empire Room.  Eighteen year old Elliot Branch won the DAY Light Youth of the Year Award and Syeisha Byrd won the DAY LIGHT Youth Professional Worker of the Year.  The awards were given out by County Executive Joanie Mahoney and Mayor Matt Driscoll. These awards show the commitment of these two for their hard work and dedication.  Each were nominated by their fellow staff and peers and were chosen among a slate of nominees.  Elliot, also the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse Youth of the Year, will be attending Onondaga Community College this Fall after graduating from Nottingham High School in the upcoming weeks.  Syeisha, who is the Unit Director at the Club's Central Village Branch, works full time while completing her Bachelor's Degree at night and raising a family.  Both Syeisha and Elliot are shining examples of the positive influence the Club can have in the lives of people in our community.  Congratulations Elliot and Syeisha!

  • July 26h, Central Village Boys & Girls Club.  Allstate Foundation presents the Teaching Tolerance Series.  'Refugee': A celebration of Eastern African Customs and Traditions in the Western Hemisphere and a viewing of the Documentary 'Refugee' which details the youth and families on the South Side who have come to Syracuse from Somalia and Kenya.   • August 23rd, East Fayette Street Boys & Girls Club. Allstate Foundation presents 'Diversity: It's All of Us' Film Series.  The Clubs will be showing a series of 5 short films on issues of diveristy and inclusion.  Will also have a lecture series after each and food and beverages so viewers have a chance to mingle and view more about the Teaching Tolerance Series and have opportunities to sign up to participate.   • October 2, Turning Stone Resort.  Kaluyaht Golf Course.  The Annual Klubhouse Klassic Golf Tournament to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse.  The Annual Captain and Crew Golf Tournament is a morning tournament at the prestigious Turning Stone Resort.  Enjoy a top ranked golf course while supporting a great cause.  In addition to prizes, all participants will receive free passes to the afternoon rounds of golf at the PGA Turning Stone Resort Championship being held at the Shenendoah Course nearby!  For more details, please contact James Czarniak at 579-1116. 
  • October 28th:  Drumlins 5:30PM-9:00PM  Hoops for Hope.  Enjoy autographs from this year's basketball team and have a chance to meet the team's new players and have fun opportunities to win prizes and perhaps even eat dinner with a member of the team!  All proceeds for the event support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse after school program.  For details, please contact James Czarniak at 579-1116.

Boys & Girls Clubs Seeking Motivated Staff for Upcoming Summer and School Year Programs
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse is currently hiring a number of staff for its upcoming school year program which runs from October through June.  The Clubs are looking for people who like working with children and who have a passion for making impacts in the lives of youth.  The Clubs are hiring for our teen program, after school child care programs, and school site programs throughout the city.  All positions are part-time and hours range from 2:00PM up and until 9:00PM.
