The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse would like to congratulate Dannielle G. Davis of H. W. Smith Middle School for being selected as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse Youth of the Year and a 2011 New York State Youth of the Year finalist. The Youth of the Year program helps to foster personal growth and leadership qualities. This program promotes and celebrates Club members’ service to the Club, community and family; academic performance; spiritual values; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.
Dannielle is a member of the Torch Club leadership group and was named the 2010-2011 Torch Club Secretary. The Torch Club meets weekly to volunteer and participate in various community service activities as well as work to fundraise for trips and events.
Danielle enjoys helping others whenever they are in need whether it be helping teach dance to younger Club members, serving meals, or helping keep the Club clean. It is clear to all around her that Dannielle demonstrates strong leadership skills and a great commitment to Club service. Danielle is extremely goal oriented and plans to attend college after high school graduation. She has already authored three books and aspires to further pursue a career in writing.
When asked about the Boys & Girls Club Dannielle states, “I am lucky to have a Boys & Girls Club in my community. If I was not at the Boys & Girls Club I would be at home, bored, watching TV. Also, more people might do bad stuff if they did not have a Boys & Girls Club to go to.” The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse are incredibly enthusiastic about Dannielle’s participation in the local program and are proud to say she is a member of their Clubs. Congratulations Dannielle!
