November 30, 2016 (Syracuse, NY) – M&T Bank has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse, through its M&T Charitable Foundation, to help keep youth and teens in a safe environment.

At a time when many area neighborhoods are combatting crime issues, there remains an urgent need to improve and strengthen the safety at the Boys & Girls Clubs. M&T Bank’s contribution will help enhance the security of the Clubs, which will allow for the staff to place a greater focus on the programs being offered to the youth and teens inside the Clubs rather than having to worry about activity outside of the Clubs or in neighboring streets.

“We are extremely appreciative of M&T Bank’s generous contribution, which will help to advance the safety and security of our Clubs, and allow for our youth and teens to benefit from a positive experience in the Clubs,” said Patrick Driscoll, interim executive director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse. “The M&T Charitable Foundation has continued to invest in our organization, and we applaud their efforts to support several charitable organizations throughout the region.”

“For generations, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse have provided children with a safe place to learn, grow and play, and they’ve made a tremendous impact, touching thousands of lives,” said Allen J. Naples, Regional President for M&T Bank in Central New York. “At M&T Bank, we’re committed to helping local youth succeed, and we’re pleased to continue to support an organization so focused on the development and well-being of our community’s young people.”
